Professional Staff Advisors
Academic Advising is critical to academic success at Ohio State. Often serving as the main point of contact between students and the university, advisors help create academic plans that meet your educational and career goals. We're here to guide you through the university while connecting you to appropriate resources that help keep you on track along the way. Advising for undergraduate students on the Columbus campus is provided by the individual college or department that offers the program of study you are pursuing.
Why see your Academic Advisor?
- To plan your academic degree program; understanding requirements and course sequences
- To shape your general education experience; file course petitions and track progress
- To plan for a minors, undergraduate research, global education, internships, or other co-curricular options
- To get help with course enrollments such as being added to waitlists, processing course enrollment permissions or drops after the fourth Friday of the term.

Design Student Support Staff
Current Design Students
All students pursuing one of our undergraduate majors are assigned to our in-house undergraduate academic advisor. They only advise Design students and are a highly specialized expert in this type of advising. This allows you to get advice from someone who knows the specifics of your curriculum. Your advisor will help you with course scheduling, degree planning, and other concerns related to major and GE requirements.

Future Design Students
Any students not yet, but considering becoming, an Ohio State Design student are supported by our academic specialist. They are alum of both our MFA and BSD programs and their involvement with the department is extensive. Their deep departmental knowledge ensures you have access to the best possible information to make the right decisions for your academic future.

Future Ohio State Design students are encouraged to schedule a Future Student Visit if travel to Columbus is possible. Otherwise, virtual appontments may be scheduled by calling 614-292-6961 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding university holidays.

Student Hours
The office is generally staffed Monday - Friday 8:30am-3:30pm, excluding University holidays. Appointments are STRONGLY recommended though as the staff gets quite busy at times and are not always available in office.
- Monday: Administrative Day, No Student Appointments
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Usually Alyssa is In Office and Gabe is Remote
- Thursday & Friday: Usually Alyssa is Remote and Gabe In Office
Design Honors Students
As a student in the Arts and Sciences Honors Program, you enjoy the advantage of having at least two advisors to help you with degree planning, course selection, and other academic issues. In general, you will consult with departmental academic advisor about the major area, procedural matters, and information about degree requirements, and consult with an Honors Office advisor for assistance with an Honors Contract, an Undergraduate Thesis, and other special honors opportunities.

Faculty Area Coordinators
Additionally in the Department of Design, all students pursuing one of our BSD tracks are encouraged to develop a strong relationship with their respective Area Coordinator.
