Rebekah Matheny receives the IIDA Ohio Kentucky Chapter’s inaugural Enrich Grant
In October 2022, Associate Professor Rebekah Matheny received the IIDA Ohio Kentucky Chapter’s inaugural Enrich Grant. The Enrich Grant supports education and professional development opportunities to deepen knowledge, continue lifelong learning, and advance careers in the interior design industry. As the recipient, Rebekah attended the Institute For The Futures’ course, becoming a Certified Futurist last May. As a Futurist, Rebekah is able to combine design theory with foresight methods and tools to identify forces of change, describe future contexts with evidence-based world building, Identify collective and individual visions through user journeys, and extract insights from the future and identify opportunities to develop new products, services, spaces, and scenarios.
As part of the grant, Rebekah will be sharing her insights and the methods from the course with IIDA OH/KY Chapter during their Friday Forum on November 17th. Attendees will be lead through a discussion around a meaningful interior design topic using tools learned in the course to analyze possible futures, build worlds and scenes from those futures, and populate those scenes with compelling artifacts.
