Associate Professor Scott Shim receives Core 77 Design Award

Scott Shim

The Department of Design congratulates Associate Professor Scott Shim for receiving a Core 77 2014 Design Award in the "Professional Notable" category!

Shim's proposed project, "Your Pizza, Your Way," presents a model for customizable service design as a means of reducing customer anxiety in "made to order" restaurants. The jury appreciated the simplicity of Shim's solution as "low-tech, relevant and impactful." His work was praised as proof "that service design is not just about designing whole ecosystems."

Core 77 is an indispensable design magazine and resource that serves the greater online community. Its network includes daily design news, thought leadership, professional development, industry advocacy, and community outreach. The Core 77 Design Awards recognize excellence in all areas of design enterprise and they celebrate the richness of the design profession and its practitioners. The competition for the 2014 Design Awards was global, diverse, and highly competitive.

We are very proud of Professor Shim's achievement and the distinction he brings to the department with this award!
