The new face of Engine House No.6 after Thriving Bloom is welcoming its guest there. As you walk by you will be able to peak through the ordering and pick-up window that shows the inside of the welcoming café.
Thriving Bloom floor plans that show the first floor and second floor. With the first floor having the café with its designed cocoons seatings to attract and advertise the learning area on the second floor.
The sections show the flow between the two floors and how the large cocoon in the center goes all the way through the roof letting in natural light to the building.
The view of the café from the back allows you to see how the cocoon seatings are arranged, and it shows a bit of the Zen Garden that adds to the biophilic design of the café.
This view is by the entrance and shows the barista point of view. You can see how the cocoon seatings help with connecting the two floors visually.
As you go upstairs you will be stepping into the lounge area were students get to spent time to study or relax outside of the flexible learning room that is across. The flexible learning area has an opening where you can see the learning environment from the outside.

Thriving Bloom
Thriving Bloom Café is a biophilic café and educational hub located in Franklinton, Ohio at Engine House 6. The project is designed to support adults in the community who lack a high school diploma by providing them with the opportunity to attain their GED while gaining practical work experience in the café environment. In addition to the GED program, the café will offer workshops on financial literacy, resume building, and job-readiness skills, with a focus on empowering individuals to achieve personal and economic growth. The café’s biophilic design will integrate natural elements to create a relaxing, inspiring, and supportive atmosphere for both the workers and the community.
Raneem Alyami is from Saudi Arabia and majoring in interior design. Passionate about creating functional and immersive spaces, she explores the intersection of design, community, and well-being. With the enjoyment of blending aesthetics with practicality to develop spaces that foster connection, accessibility, and engagement. Through academic projects and personal initiatives, she strives to push the boundaries of user-centered design.
