Rethink

Rethink

Grace Buerk

Visual Communication Design, 2022

As a response to the negative stigmatization that surrounds tattoos, Rethink is an exhibition that explores the art of tattooing through its history, culture, and design. Rethink, just as the title would suggests, invites viewers to reevaluate what they know and how they feel about tattoos. Tattoos have been around for centuries and their reputation and perception has changed. Rethink explores the reasons why tattoos have been perceived they way they have and invites you to reinterpret what you know about them. This exhibit layout was designed with the viewer’s experience in mind. All of the walls, text, and images have been arranged to first tell the history of tattoos, creating a groundwork of knowledge, and then engaging viewers in interactive, communal experiences that celebrate tattoos.
